My name is Thomas Davis, but you can call me Duke. And a little about myself, I have been overweight most my entire life, until last year, July 2024.
Why? Well, I decided that enough was enough, I had been, up til that point, living in a state of constant depression, fear, anxiety, and denial of my weight, which was fluctuating between 390LBs-400LBs. But, because I could lift heavy weights I thought I was healthy, this was stupid idea. Then I got a physical and was laughed out of the building. I decided that day of July 2, 2024 that I had to finally conqueror the one thing that scared me the most in this world. My weight.
So, I set a goal for myself of losing 100LBs. I didn't know how I'd get there, but I what I did know was that I wasn't giving up on myself, not this time, I couldn't afford to because I was looking living a life I didn't want - taking medications, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, blindness, you get where I'm coming from. I gave myself a full year to figure things out, find a system, something that worked for me.
I didn't need a year, I only needed 9 months. 9 months to lose over 110LBs and keep it off with ease. I found out that weight loss is both a mental and physical journey. And, it's the mental part of the journey that most of us lose, the physical is the part that we can easily utilize, eating the proper number of calories, the workouts, portioning foods, etc. But, the mental is what's never address because most of the people who coach weight loss never experienced weight loss like us, being 50, 80, 100+ pounds overweight for decades plus. Our minds are wired to function as that heavier individual; so, when we embark on a weight loss journey we have to realize that not only are we doing the physical part of the journey, but we are also rewiring, and reframing, our minds mentally, molding it into the mind that we need to succeed, not only, on weight loss journey but life afterwards.
I remembered a promise that I made to myself when I was younger that if I could ever lose the weight; I would make it as easy, and painless, as possible for anyone to do - eat all their favorite foods, exercise as little, or much, as they wish, and keep off weight, permanently.
